The collaboration of two renowned distilleries on two different continents (Foursquare Distillery in Barbados and Grays Distillery in Mauritius) creates something entirely new for a centuries old craft.
Equiano is 100% natural molasses-based rum with no spices, no additives and no added sugar. Aged for 8 to 11 years in the tropical climates of Africa and the Caribbean, this marriage of fine rums is finish in ex-bourbon casks, all which create rich and deep flavours.
Named after Olaudah Equiano, an entrepreneur and freedom fighter whose autobiography shaped history. Like the rum, Equiano was born in Africa, journeyed to the Caribbean and settled in the UK where, upon paving his way to liberation through selling a puncheon of rum at a time, he became a prominent figure in the freedom and abolition movement in Britain and the US.
