Monymusk comes from Jamaica’s Clarendon Distillery, which was built in 1949. Today it houses two pot stills, one of which is possibly the largest pot still in the Caribbean, known to produce two distinct styles – a light-low ester and a heavy high-ester style. The distillery is known for its unique flavors of butyric acid that is comparable to ghee.
The EMB is a medium marque formerly made at Bog Estate until it was transferred to the Clarendon Distillery. It denotes an ester count around 250 g/hlpa. This single cask was distilled in 2014 and has been aged in ex-Bourbon cask for 8 years at the distillery. It has been bottled exclusively for the American market at cask strength (60%) without any additives.
