Bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky, Hirsch the Horizon Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a blend of two different bourbon mash bills distilled by MGP in Indiana. 94% of the mash is the lower rye MGP mash bill featuring 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. The remainder of the blend consists of MGP’s higher rye mash bill which uses 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley. The whiskies are aged between four and six years before blending and bottling at 92 proof. The Horizon gives off soft scents of citrus fruit and vanilla with a hint of oak in the background. The palate offers classic bourbon notes of caramel and vanilla with a touch of cinnamon and clove spice. On the finish, the spice gives way to warm caramel and oak.
